Lips N Lotion, an Etsy Shop #Review

If there is one thing I enjoy about reviewing products, it is when I get to review products made by people like me – bloggers, stay at home mothers, DIYers. There is just something very unique and intriguing about people that put in so much time and effort to make a wonderful product to share with the rest of the world; this is how I felt when I recently received some products from an Etsy shop to review.

Lips N Lotion, based out of Ohio, is an Etsy shop run by working mother of two, Monica. The shop is filled with lotion bars (that look like soap, but they are lotion) and lip balms made of organic unrefined Shea butter & pure filtered beeswax and various oils. Lips N Lotion allows Monica to spend quality time with her older daughter, who helps her mother sell and design the labels for products. Monica reported that her daughter is the one who came up with a lot of the scents and polled her 5th & 6th grade classmates on which scents of lotions & lip balms they liked best. Monica’s 4 year old daughter is also involved in the way of official tester as she puckers up and slathers on the lip balm.

I received two lotion bars in the scents Love Spell and Bamboo Sugar Cane as well as two lip balms in the scents Lemonheads and Dill Pickle.

IMG_0653I was super excited to try out the Dill Pickle flavor because I LOVE pickles and I couldn’t imagine what it’d be like to wear such a flavor as lip balm. To my surprise, the dill pickle lip balm smelled and taste just like a dill pickle; it definitely reminds me of sniffing the dill seasoning that I use for cooking! The Lemonheads scent is very fresh and well…lemony! The name reminds me of Lemonheads candy.

Each of the homemade lip balms is made out of Organic Unrefined Shea Butter & Pure Filtered Beeswax as well as a variety of oils such as Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, and Jojoba Oil. The lip balms slide on smooth and hydrate the lips very well. I also found that the flavor/scent sticks around for a good amount of time too – nothing like walking around smelling pickles all day!

The lotion bars come packaged in cute little round black tins and are made of the same Organic Unrefined Shea Butter and Pure Filtered Beeswax and various oils as the lip balms. I really enjoyed the Love Spell scent which is very similar to the scent sold at Victoria’s Scent, a favorite scent of mine from when I was younger! The Bamboo Sugar Cane scent reminded me of green tea for some reason, I’m not sure why and it isn’t a bad thing but that’s just what comes to mind when I sniff it.

The lotion bars are very easy to use and are not like your typical lotions that you squirt out of a bottle; simply rub the bar between your hands and the friction will heat up the bar just enough to get some lotion on your hands to rub around. I like to rub the bar on the back of my hands and on my forearms and then rub it in. These lotion bars are great for cracked skin and make the skin feel very soft. What I really like about them, aside from being homemade & natural, is the scents aren’t overpowering at all and the lotion isn’t sticky or greasy.

Oh my gosh! What cool flavors! I get super tired of the same ol’ cherry, vanilla and medicated crap. I just favorite’d her shop because of this review! Great job. =D

These sound pretty good. I’m not a fan of pickles but that lemonhead one sounds divine. Going to check out her etsy shop and see what else she has to offer.

Oh my gosh… Dill Pickle lip gloss… who would of thought. Snookie would like that, didn’t she used to drink Dill Pickle juice? I try to only use organic products but some times it is so hard to find good ones. You are so lucky to be chosen to review these.

The Bamboo Sugar Cane sounds great! It’s hard to find real organic things like that. I just bookmarked the store for later shopping :)

Oh wow I would love to try one of the lip balms I’ve found organic ones seem to work so much better than others. x

Those products sounds absolutely amazing. I would love to try a lotion bar! The lip balm sounds nice too but I don’t think I would get Dill Pickle. My sister would love that though!

What great flavors/scents. I love lotion bars. They are natural and last so much longer than bottled chemical stuff.

Lemonheads is going to have to end up in my daughter’s fun box! She loves this.

I would love a lotion bar in a little tin. That would be great for travel and to have in your purse. Sometimes other types of lotion containers can come apart in your luggage or purse. I am going to have order this.

I just love the way the gloss comes – that is so unique. I’m going to favorite this shop on my easy page. I definitely want to become a customer. This is a great review. Love the flavors.

Dill pickle lip gloss would be a change on my ladies lips. I do prefer my pickles on hamburgers though.
