My MAC Makeup Makeover

MAC Cosmetics

When I was growing up, my mom didn’t teach me a lot about “girly stuff,” which included how to apply and wear makeup. She never wore a lot of makeup from what I can remember, so everything that I learned I had taught myself or read in magazines. I never had gotten color matched to make sure that my foundation was the right shade for my skin or if it was the right kind of formula; I pretty much just eye balled it and went about my way. I use to wear makeup frequently during my junior high (middle school) and high school years, but as I got a bit older I stopped wearing it as much and honestly, I think it has a lot to do with me gaining weight and just not feeling pretty enough even to wear makeup! The other day I decided to head to the MAC cosmetics counter to get color matched and have someone do my makeup, I loved the results!

MAC Makeup MakeoverI am wearing:

I got my makeup done around 11am and wore it for the entire day until about 10 or 11pm when I took it off. The makeup wore well for the day, although I did notice some shiny spots peek through on my t-zone (and I don’t think I have oily skin) which I could have taken care of had I had some powder on hand. I also think the NW18 color in foundation matches my skin tone very well, and I didn’t feel like a clown wearing it.

Overall, I think MAC cosmetics live up to their name of providing great coverage & concentrated pigments, but they are fairly pricy. I didn’t purchase anything after I got my makeup done because I wanted to see how my skin reacted to it, but I am definitely a fan! I managed to snag the Haute & Naughty mascara, probably my most favorite product, off Ebay for $10.75 and it is on the way to me now.

First and foremost, Do not ever let your weight define your beauty! You are BEAUTIFUL and weight is nothing but just that! You are and would be Beautiful whether you were 95lbs or 600lbs or somewhere in between!!! Don’t let something like weight hold you back and make you feel any less Beautiful!

And your make up looks awesome! I love eye make up but never have the time anymore! =)

Wow, you look amazing. I have never tried MAC makeup but I am told that it is some of the best makeup that one can buy. They certainly have a beautiful and diverse color palette. You have convinced me to invest in some MAC products of my own.

I haven’t tried MAC products yet. But for sure because of your review I will buy and try what MAC makeup can do with my face. Anyway, your pretty and weight doesn’t matter. Stay pretty in and out.

As a fellow curvy gal, do not let weight be who you are ! You are fabulous no matter what! And your makeup looks fantastic! My mom passed away when I was just 13, so she never got the chance to teach me anything about makeup, so I am learning now – I wore some in HS too, but it wasn’t exactly work-appropriate and involved a lot of eye liner, lol!

I like the look. I have never tried MAC. I only wear makeup on special occasions. I will have to check their makeup and see if I like it.

Looks amazing. I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis, just on special occassions. Will hop over and check them out.

Did you never hear “Big and Beautiful”? Up until very recently I was very much over weight and did not wear makeup–then I got diabetes and lost 60+ pounds–I still don’t wear make up–I am still the same person! Do not let your weight define who you are!!

Beautiful! We are similar in the fact I never learned how to do make-up growing up (my mom was a hippie mom who barely brushed her hair – HA). I’m still questionable on my make-up skills, but love to learn. It’s funny I am blessed with two daughters so feel like I want to get in the swing of things! Great post.

i have the feeling same as you, when i was thinner I use to wear make up but then when I became overweight I kinda forget about it, my though was that why does it matter its not the face they are going to look at anyway its the belly and all the extra fat. Looking at the result I kinda figure out well maybe I was wrong all along, i can still be pretty even if I am fat. I might not be able to afford mac products since I know they are a bit pricey i might have to pick up on my old make up kit and start putting some makeup again.
